Purina Mills Announces Winner of its Win a Free Ride to the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix Contest

September 4, 2010

Saugerties, NY --- Purina Mills, the Official Equine Feed of HITS Horse Shows, announced today that Linda Dysinger of Fallwell, Michigan, is the winner of its Win a Free Ride to the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix Contest. Dysinger was selected from hundreds of entries that were submitted from January through the end of August from all over the country and Canada.

For the simple task of filling out an entry blank, Dysinger has won roundtrip airfare for her and a guest to travel to Saugerties, New York, for the first ever Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix. Dysinger and her guest will enjoy deluxe accommodations at Rhinebeck's famous Beekman Arms, America's oldest inn, which was recently the host to attendees from the Chelsea Clinton nuptials that took place earlier this summer.

Dysinger and her guest will also receive a personal course walk with High-Performance rider and Nations Cup Team Member Todd Minikus, on the track built by Olympic Course Designer Steve Stephens. The pair also will enjoy limousine transportation to and from the horse show and airport courtesy of Adriano Limousine, and meals at three popular restaurants amongst exhibitors during their three-day stay in the Hudson Valley! Stella's Station and Mirabella's in Saugerties will host Dysinger and her guest for some casual, after-show fun, while the Zagat-rated Le Canard Enchaine in historic, uptown Kingston will provide a five-star meal in their classic French style.

Dysinger has a home in Ocala, Florida and was making a trip to the sunshine state this spring when she happened to be sitting next to an exhibitor who competes at HITS Ocala. During the flight the two spoke about the horse show and the exhibitor suggested that Dysinger check it out during her stay in Ocala.

"I had never been to a horse show before, but it sounded like fun, so we went," said Dysinger. "We ended up having a terrific time and while we were there I filled out the Purina Mills entry blank. But to be honest, it was so long ago that I had completely forgotten about it!"

Forgotten she had, and when the call came through to tell her that she had won, Dysinger was at first suspicious it was a prank call. "The gentleman on the phone said 'I assure you I am not looking for any personal information? I just called to tell you that you have won our contest.' Once he asked me if I had been to a horse show, it all started to come back to me and that's when I got excited!"

"I have to say I'm not that familiar with the sport of show jumping, but I really enjoyed what I saw in Ocala," she added. "My husband has a huge family golf outing that weekend, so I'm bringing my best friend whose daughter used to ride. She's familiar with the sport and will be my guide during the trip."

Dysinger and her guest will be arriving on Friday, just in time for the HITS-on-the-Hudson Equestrian Art Auction taking place at the show grounds. On Saturday the pair will enjoy an afternoon at the horse show watching all the action in the $50,000 FEI World Cup Qualifier/Pfizer Million Wild Card Grand Prix, presented by Pfizer Animal Health, and then take part in the Saturday night's exhibitor part in the VIP Pavilion. On Sunday, they will enjoy prime seating for the first-ever Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix and the John Fogerty concert before heading back to Michigan on Monday morning.

For those who were not lucky enough to win a free ride to the Pfizer Million, tickets are still available for purchase through Ticketmaster or the HITS Corporate Box Office. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please call 845.246.8833.

In order to qualify for the Pfizer $1 Million Grand Prix, a rider must compete in eight or more HITS Grand Prix classes.
