SBS Farms Victorious Again Week III of HITS Ocala

March 1, 2010

Buffalo, NY –-– SBS Farms continued its success February 23-28, 2010. While SBS Farms trainer and director Susie Schoellkopf relocated to Wellington, FL, for the week to judge Week VII of the Winter Equestrian Festival, SBS rider and trainer Jennifer Alfano led the barn to numerous awards throughout Week III of HITS Ocala.

Starting off the week with championship honors, Alfano piloted Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Caristo’s Aura to the Second Year Green Working Hunter tricolor after earning a first, a second, and two thirds over fences. Following two successive championships Weeks I and II in the Baby Green Hunters, Shannon O’Neill’s Rose Hill stepped up to make an impressive debut in the Pre-Green Hunters Week III, finishing second and third over fences with Alfano in the irons.

Meredith Lipke competed in the Older Amateur-Owner Hunters on both The Specialist and Accomplice Week III of Ocala. Lipke, of Buffalo, NY, took home third, fourth and fifth aboard The Specialist as well as two seconds, a sixth, and a sixth in the $1,000 Amateur-Owner Hunter Classic with Accomplice. A new horse for Lipke, Accomplice joined the impressive sting of winners at SBS Farms just three weeks ago and has found numerous successes since then with both Lipke and Alfano.

Although Lipke grew up riding, it wasn’t until she went to Alfano and Schoellkopf ten years ago that she began competing at the level she does today. “Susie and Jen have found me such wonderful horses,” Lipke said. “I could have never imagined having such incredible horses and competing at this level; it’s really been a lot of fun.”

Showing in the equitation divisions, Madison Brayman captured fifth in Section A of the USEF Hunter Seat Medal and finished ninth in the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship Medal aboard Archie Cox’s Serenade. Brayman and Serenade also had a clean sweep in the Equitation 14-15 division, winning every class to take home championship honors. Taylor Ann Adams rode SBS Farms’ Only Jumping Boy to victory in one of the High Children’s Jumper Classes; the duo also finished fifth in the $15,000 Marshall & Sterling Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic.

Based out of Buffalo, NY, SBS Farms relocates to Florida during the winter months to compete at the HITS Ocala Winter Series. Together, Schoellkopf and Alfano run one of the foremost show hunter training operations in the country, and travel nationwide to compete in the nations most prestigious horse shows. Adding to their numerous accolades, Schoellkopf and Alfano both recently received prestigious awards; Schoellkopf was presented with the USHJA Presidents Distinguished Service Award, while Alfano was chosen as the Chronicle of the Horse’s Show Hunter Horsewoman of the Year.
